Public Must Report On Any Ice Factory Operate In Dirty Conditions

The Ministry of Health KKM has urged members of the public with information on any ice factory that operated in dirty conditions to make a report. This is to ensure the ministry could monitor and take action against the factory involved. Director-general Datuk Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said, reports can be made through the District Health Office PKD or the nearest State Health Department JKN, through the website or the Food Safety and Quality Division Facebook. Under the rule 394A, the food regulations 1985, the owner of the ice factory must have a valid licence from the KKM, — If they fail, they can be fined not exceeding five thousand ringgit or jail not exceeding two years. Currently there are 118 ice factories nationwide, while 21 are still waiting for their approval from the ministry. Ice factory operators must comply with the rules set upon them; no animal on the premises, operations and equipment are clean, fresh water resources, and food handlers received injection of anti-typhoid
